Since 1989, DDC’s main operational facilities have been located in the Philippines.

Our business experience in the Philippines has been very positive. Indeed, recent research has shown the Philippines to be the #1 location for more complex BPO activity where quality, not just cost reduction, is a prime consideration.

The population is English-speaking, highly educated, naturally enthusiastic and of a problem-solving dispensation. They are a very proud and conscientious people who are friendly, loyal and diligent. The work ethic and the attention to detail is excellent.

Many of our employees have been with us since 1989. DDC meets all local legislation requirements and we look after our employees and we get involved in many local initiatives to improve the quality of life in the Philippines.

The Philippines is situated in South East Asia, an archipelago of 7,107 islands, which stretches from the south of China to the northern tip of Borneo. It has a population of over 68 million people; more than 18 million of whom are in the capital city of Manila.

Considered as the third largest English speaking country in the world, the Philippines have world class facilities and services. The country has excellent accommodation, fine restaurants, modern shopping centres, modern communication services, exhibition organizers and reliable tour operators. It is also the only Christian country in the Far East.

1. Language: two official languages English/Filipino. Schools teach in English, based upon the US education system.

2. Literacy rate: Total Population 95.9%

The literacy rate is one of the highest in the world, certainly when compared to others in the Far East and other developing nations. India - 52%, Mexico - 89.8%. (Figures compiled by the World Bank 1998).

DDC initially searched the globe with the following criteria (amongst others) for setting up our data capture operations: -

• English speaking
• High literacy rates and work ethic
• Low cost of labor
• Large infrastructure of good education facilities, with a yearly flow of highly qualified potential employees
• Good communications with North America and Europe

The Philippines came top of our list on all of the above criteria, which have enabled us to establish a 'DDC Brand' for quality, low cost and efficiency.

Philippines and US History

The greatest icon of US & Philippine history is the return of General Douglas McArthur. Here in Leyte, General McArthur waded ashore after vowing to return to the Philippines as he was forced to leave in January 1942. This gold plated memorial, in Leyte is in honor of his return.
